Cosmic Year (GB)
br c Kingman - Passage Of Time (Dansili)
Harry Charlton
Cosmic Year made a winning two-year-old debut in September 2024 with an eye-catching six and a half-length margin over his nearest rival in a Novice race at Sandown.
He posted another comfortable win on his three-year-old reappearance, going clear to win a Kempton Novice Stakes by five lengths, prompting speculation that he could be a prospective 2000 Guineas horse. Instead he went to the Listed King Charles II Stakes on the Friday of the Guineas meeting at Newmarket. He made it three from three, quickening up smartly to win his first blacktype race.
Trainer Harry Charlton commented after the race: "I suspect we’ll end up going for the Gr.1 Irish 2,000 Guineas. It would be nice to think we can go there and then on to the Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes.”
Cosmic Year went on to produce a career-best performance to place second behind fellow Juddmonte colt Field of Gold in the Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh in May.
He is out of Dansili mare Passage Of Time, winner of the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud and Gr.1-placed three times in her career and as such is a half-brother to multiple Group winner Time Test and a full brother to Dual Group winner Tempus.
