Listed Prix Luth Enchantee win for Latakia
Four-year-old Frankel filly Latakia secured her first stakes win with a late surge in the Listed Prix Luth Enchantee at Clairefontaine on Saturday (2nd August).
Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 3rd August 2025:
Bought as a foal from Darpat's draft at Arqana December, Latakia had won on her belated debut at Nantes in May before running down the field in the Listed Prix Pawneese in June. Content to track the leaders early, the daughter of the Gr.2 Prix de la Nonette and Gr.3 Prix Cleopatre winner Castellar had plenty to do two out and even a furlong out to catch Le Combat Continue but made giant strides late to nail that rival near the line.
Castellar is a half to the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and Prix d'Ispahan-winning sire Recoletos and the Listed Prix de Thiberville winner and Gr.2 Prix de Malleret-placed Ricla. A granddaughter of the Gr.2 Garden City Breeders' Cup Handicap winner Pharatta, she has a
two-year-old filly by Night Of Thunder named Ecija and a yearling full-sister to Latakia who is catalogued in the imminent Arqana Deauville August Sale.
