Gilded Prize goes three-for-three with impressive Cleopatre display

Frankel filly Gilded Prize continued her rise through the ranks with an impressive pillar-to-post performance in Friday's Gr.3 Prix Cleopatre at Saint-Cloud.

The even-money favourite was the swiftest of six into stride and set the tone from flagfall. In command throughout, she was asked to stretch passing the quarter-mile marker and powered clear of toiling rivals in the closing stages to hit the line with a three and a half-length buffer back to Warriors Whisper.

"She's definitely taken a step forward there," commented rider Colin Keane. "She's very big and still learning on the job. She's a filly with a big future and hopefully building towards Group 1 level."

Francis Graffard added:  "She's a very good filly and she answered the call today. Given her physique and attitude, I always thought she had the right profile to go to the Oaks at Epsom, but there is speed in her pedigree and she has a good gear change so will be my filly for the Prix de Diane."

He continued: "I don't know where we'll go in between, we'll see how she is as she was blowing a lot there. I think she was in need of the run, as she does the bare minimum in the mornings. She has such a stride, it's too easy for her and you can't work her too hard. We'll discuss it with the owners, it could be that she runs in the [Gr.2] Prix Saint-Alary.
